Feeding Scottish Highland Cows in Florida at Cow Creek Farm

If you're looking for a unique, heartwarming adventure in Central Florida, visiting Cow Creek Farm in Plant City should be at the top of your bucket list. Just a little over an hour's drive from Orlando, this seasonal experience offers an up-close encounter with the adorable, fluffy Scottish Highland cows- those charming orange beauties with their iconic shaggy bangs. We recently had the pleasure of checking this off our Florida bucket list, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable morning.

Our journey began with an early morning drive (about an hour and 12 minutes from Orlando), aiming for our 8:00 a.m. time slot. Although we hit a bit of traffic, the excitement of meeting the cows kept our spirits high. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the cozy charm of Cow Creek Farm, complete with a rustic barn, a quirky honorary farm dog who clearly knew he was the star of the show, and delightful little details like a strawberry-themed table that added to the farm's picturesque setting.

The tour kicked off with introductions to not just the Scottish Highland cows but also a variety of friendly farm animals, including alpacas, goats, donkeys, and even some baby Highland calves. The staff was incredibly informative, sharing fun facts about the animals—like how cows have a pecking order within their herd, which explains some of their playful shoving matches. Feeding the cows was a highlight, especially meeting the new bull, JT, who required a bit of extra caution due to his size but was gentle and charming nonetheless.

This experience costs $28 per person and, trust me, it’s worth every penny. The farm visits are seasonal, and tickets sell out fast, so we highly recommend following @cowcreekfarm on Instagram for updates and setting a reminder when new dates are released. Booking the earliest time slot (usually around 8:00 a.m.) is ideal, especially if you're traveling from afar, as the animals are more active and the Florida heat is still manageable.

Don't miss out on this magical, farm-fresh adventure that’s quickly become one of our favorite things to do in Central Florida! If you're curious to see more of our adventure, check out my video tour below:
